Grant details
Application Components: Installer submits application; property owner provides consent; installer applies for voucher
Application Platform: Installer-led application via Ofgem
Decision Process: Ofgem issues voucher; installer redeems voucher after installation
Funding Structure: £7,500 for air source heat pumps; £7,500 for ground source heat pumps; £5,000 for biomass boilers
important notes: Biomass boilers only eligible in rural, off-gas-grid properties; application must be made within 120 days of installation commissioning; grant is deducted from installation invoice
Ineligible Applicants: New-build homes and social housing (self-build properties are eligible)
Ineligible Costs: Replacement of existing low carbon heating systems; installations funded by multiple public funding sources
Key Organisational Requirements: Property must have a valid Energy Performance Certificate; must replace an existing fossil fuel or electric heating system; installation must not be funded by other public funds; installer must be MCS-certified
Objectives: To incentivise adoption of low carbon heating and increase deployment of heat pumps
